Quake 4

Product Description

  • Fight alongside other marines in both small squad missions along with large, epic battles
  • Diversity of combat with indoor and outdoor environments along with mechanized walkers and hover tanks to pilot
  • Battle through the early portion of the game as an elite marine, then after your capture as a “Stroggified” marine with enhanced abilities
  • Utilize hi-tech weaponry with upgradeable modifications
  • Arena-style multiplayer that allows players to play as Strogg or Marine in deathmatch, team deathmatch and capture-the-flag modes

The Strogg are cybernetic warriors--a mechanical frame and decaying body parts stabilized by flesh consumed in a systematic annihilation of other species and civilizations. In a desperate attempt to survive a Strogg attack on Earth, an armada of Earth's finest warriors is sent to take the battle to the Strogg home planet. Earth's initial assault force is nearly annihilated immediately, but one marine manages to infiltrate the base, bring down their planetary defense systems, and kill the Strogg's collective brain and leader--the Makron. Earth assumed the destruction of the Makron would end it all, but it didn't.

The Strogg are quickly regrouping. However, with the Strogg's planetary defenses still destroyed, Earth's forces can deliver a full and final assault. This time, you're not alone. You are Matthew Kane, an elite member of Rhino Squad, and part of Earth's next invasion wave. An army of soldiers are fighting with you and an arsenal of weapons and vehicles are at your disposal in this heroic and epic battle between worlds.

As the invasion begins, players choose to battle as one of five unique classes in either the EDF (Earth Defense Force - humans) or the barbaric alien Strogg armies, each augmented with specialist weapons and combat hardware. Troops utilize over 40 conventional and futuristic vehicles, deployable structures, and defense systems like quad-bikes, tanks, and alien walkers for epic ground assaults; or helicopters and anti-gravity ships to lend firepower from the air. Throughout each battle, teams establish bases, deploy defense structures, artillery, radar, and advanced forward-command systems into enemy territory while constructing and demolishing obstacles to speed progress and gain a tactical advantage over the enemy.

Good for price, but very limited

This is a good program if you are going to a foreign country and would like to know a few words. But, each language is very limited. There is words like Thank you, you're welcome, yes, no, etc. I would reccomend this program for people who like to explore new languages, like me. But don't plan on learning a new language with this program. I suggest getting a book or a program that teaches just the language you would like to learn. But, not a bad price for just $20.

not worth the money

Get a more language specific set of CD's. This is rather boring, it teaches basically 85 words and phrases in each language. They have characters say the words for you, but pronunciation is hard to mimic because they did not actually video tape the people saying the words. They video taped them in English, and then dub the sound over. You cannot tell where your lips are supposed to be, where your tongue should be or anything helpful for correct pronunciation. You do not learn how to order anything or conduct business. You learn "Where is the bank?" and "Where are the suitcases?" From there you could probably substitute other vocabulary words, but there are no activities in which you are asked to do so. There are no sentence formation activities. The only thing this is good for is a tiny collection of vocabulary with generic pronunciation instruction. If you have never heard a language before, it gives you something at least.

Canon PowerShot G2 4MP Digital Camera w/ 3x Optical Zoom

Product Description

  • 4.1 megapixel sensor creates 2,272 x 1,704 images for prints at 8 x 10 and beyond
  • 3x optical (plus 3.6x digital) zoom lens with autofocus
  • Included 32 MB CompactFlash card holds 24 images at default resolution; camera is Microdrive compatible
  • Movie mode captures variable amount of video depending upon memory card size
  • Uses proprietary lithium-ion rechargeable battery (included); connects with Macs and PCs via USB port

Quite simply, the Canon PowerShot G2 is an elegant, easy-to-use joy of a digital camera that boasts impressive 4-megapixel resolution, a 3x optical zoom, a bright LCD monitor that swivels off to the side of the camera and tilts up and down as needed, and maximum overall creative control in addition to a fully automatic mode. Of course, none of this comes as much of a surprise to anyone familiar with its popular predecessor, the PowerShot G1. Both of these cameras have features and picture-taking modes similar to Canon's EOS cameras, which means they have what Canon calls a "very camera-like feel." Some of the G2's more obvious improvements over the G1 (besides higher resolution) include a champagne gold finish, larger grip for easier handling, improved image and color quality, new photo-effect shooting mode for various effects, including black-and-white and sepia, and a new high-speed selectable three-point autofocus.

The G2's 4-megapixel CCD captures images at user-selectable resolutions of 2,272 x 1,704, 1,600 x 1,200, 1,024 x 768, and 640 x 480. This range allows for detail-rich 8-by-10-inch prints that match the results of film cameras as well as easy-to-upload images for the Web and e-mail. Choose between three varying degrees of JPEG compression or store images in the 10-bit RAW data file format for faster transfer without any image quality loss. Your computer easily translates the RAW files into TIFF files using Canon's included software.

The telescoping, 3x optical zoom lens (34-102mm equivalent on a 35mm camera) with 3.6x digital zoom, offers both automatic and manual focus control. The improved, high-speed, selectable three-point autofocus system allows flexibility in composition over the single focus point of the G1. A distance scale has been added on the LCD monitor for precision focus adjustment that works best for extreme close-ups. Improved circuitry allows the G2 to perform these advanced functions with faster image capture times and longer battery life than the G1.

Like the G1, the G2 has point-and-shoot settings that take the guesswork out of almost all situations, but the manual controls and creative options are where this camera stands out from the competition. Twelve EOS-style shooting modes allow for a wide range of creative possibilities, with manual focus zoom, adjustable aperture priority at 50, 100, 200, and 400 ISO, selectable shutter speed, and six preset white balances--sunny, cloudy, tungsten, etc. Canon has provided four presets for professional results when shooting for maximum depth of field, portraits, landscapes, and night scenes. Other creative controls include the photo-effect mode that allows four possible variations of the normal color saturation: vivid color, standard color, sepia tones, and standard black-and-white.

Two video formats have also been included, allowing for 30 and 120 seconds of moving images with audio. Slow shutter-speed mode allows extended exposures in low-light situations. Autoexposure bracketing allows you to intentionally over- and underexpose two extra shots to help capture the best picture possible. Five different flash modes, including red-eye reduction, handle after-dark challenges. The TTL hot shoe is fully compatible with all Canon EX-series Speedlite flashes. The included software package goes beyond standard image processing with a remote capture function that allows complete control and manipulation of the camera functions from your computer keyboard. Canon's Stitch Assist program allows you to combine up to four images into one, seamless, panoramic view.

Exterior design features include the highly versatile LCD monitor from the G1 that needs no improvement; its 270-degree rotation allows all angles of image composition from around corners to self-portraits. Changes in ergonomics, as requested by the users of the G1, include a contoured grip for better one-handed shooting and a more streamlined look. Photographers new to the digital market will find the G2 as easy to use as previous PowerShot models, while professionals will be pleased with the improved selection of creative options for capturing the best possible images.

The G2 comes complete with USB port and cable for connection to PC or Macintosh computers; Canon's digital camera software package for downloading, processing, and organizing your images; a NTSC cable for connecting to a television set; a rechargeable BP-511 lithium-ion battery pack and AC adapter for charging the battery in the camera; a generous 32 MB CompactFlash card; infrared remote control; lens cap; and neck strap. The camera weighs about 14.8 ounces, and its dimensions are 4.8(W) by 3.0(H) by 2.5(D) inches.

if you are not an f-16 pilot, prepare to spend time scaling the huge learning curve of the game

This game is NOT i repeat NOT a 'game'. it is a simulation. This simulation is not for you if you dont plan on spending hours reading the 700 pages of manual included. I do not mean to presuade you agaisnt the game, i am just warning you in advanced so you are no dissapointed.
Now, with that aside, the game. The game is, well, accurate. And when I say accurate, I mean every last button, knob, lever, swith, and warning light is included, all of which are fully functional. The radar systems are all 100% accurate (not the 'Gods eye' view of the entire battlefield as in ace combat 4 ect.) The radar and all of it's submodes are complex. I'm not going to lie. But after some practice, they will become second nature. Learning how to call up and use all of the differnt weapons is also a challenge you mujst overcome. From targeting a Maverick, to firing your rocket pod, each weapon is completey unique and accurate to the extreme. Air to Air combat is also somewhat of a challenge, and accurately delivering your Air to Ground muntions takes a steady hand and ample skill.
Now it may seem like I am degrading the game. But after a few weeks, or maybe a few months, you begin to understand how that radar sumbmode works. You begin to understand how to target your LGB's with success. You begin to understand how to re-fuel while in flight(which can be a NIGHTMARE!) Once you begin to understand all of the complex feautres on the f-16, the game becomes very enjoyable. It is very rewarding. The campaign is AWESOME. The online dogfighting is AWESOME. Nothing can replace the feeling you have after landing your damgaed Falcon with an empty fuel tank after dropping 2,000lbs worth of bombs on your enemy and destroying 2 MiG-21's in the process. It is just wondeful.
In conclusion, you must dedicate yourself to this sim. Dont become discuraged, because the learning curve here is GIGANTIC! Just take your time, review what you have learned, and in no time you will be the best pilot in the sky.

The program lets you manipulate individual body parts, including the full body, facial expressions and fully articulated hands, and interactively sculpt and design figures in real time, including the body and facial expressions. Object-level Collision Detection helps with posing and avoids collisions when animating.

What's New in Poser 6?

  • New Figures
Poser 6 introduces James and Jessi, new figures with amazing realism to bring a new level of photorealstic content to your artwork. Both figures accurately depict the human form, have lifelike skin textures, and full morph target sets to design your own custom figures with facial expressions. Also included are new boy and girl children figures, Ben and Kate, who complete the new Poser family. The new Poser figures come with photorealistic texture maps, full body morphs, facial expression morphs, and are fully rigged for posing.
  • More Content
Poser's Content Paradise now includes a host of top content providers, to bring you a diverse range of Poser 6 models, textures, poses, character packs, utilities and free stuff. A redesigned interface makes finding Poser content faster and easier than ever before.
  • Enhanced UI
Poser's innovative UI is centered on a productive room-based environment. Individual Pose, Setup, Materials, Hair and Cloth rooms provide easy feature access for each step in the creative process. In addition to rooms, Poser uses floating palettes and windows. You can customize your Poser workspace by hiding/displaying and relocating controls anywhere you like. You can even save up to nine different screen configurations for the entire Poser workspace.
  • Shadow Catching
Poser 6 introduces several new features to support artists in rendering more true to life shadow effects. For example the NEW Shadow Catcher feature enables you to separate shadows from their underlying surface, and put them virtually anywhere. These new features make image composition and integrating 3D figures into graphic design easier.
  • New Toon Outlines
The New Toon Outline feature uses post-processing during rendering to draw an outline around the edges of cartoon images. Poser 6 offers customizable outline styles, enabling you to further personalize your cartoon shading look. Add a distinctive style to any cartoon imagery for comics. Now you have the choice to add outlines to any cartoon imagery you create with Poser. This feature's effect is most dramatic when combined with a cartoon shader node. Configurable Cartoon Shading preview styles allow you to approximate the final render results as you work.
  • OpenGL
OpenGL delivers accelerated performance when previewing anything from cartoon to photorealistic 3D figures. Now you can display vivid textures and lighting in real-time when designing figures. You can even render high resolution images using the OpenGL Preview renderer. There are accelerated previews for your 3D scenes, so you can see vivid textures and lighting in real-time. This feature works with all Document Display Styles, including wireframe, cartoon, and more. You can render out your 3D scene display with the OpenGL Preview renderer, and easily switch between SreeD Software and OpenGL Hardware for scene previews--which means you can maximize your system’s resources and spend your time creating rather than waiting.
  • New Ambient Occlusion
Ambient Occlusion makes figures seem as though they are in the natural lighting environment of the real world. Ambient Occlusion is available on every light to create accurate soft shadow effects, thus giving scenes a new degree of realism. The new Ambient Occlusion shader node makes figures and objects appear as though they are in a natural lighting environment. Ambient Occlusion darkens surfaces within a scene whose exposure to light is blocked by other objects. This effect uses raytracing to calculate the degree to which other objects within a scene occlude the ambient light of a surface at a given point. Surfaces with more occlusion will be rendered as darker than surfaces with little or no occlusion. You can set Ambient Occlusion lighting for all objects, or select lighting effects focused on specific parts of your scene.

Or, you can take advantage of the benefit that comes with 3D work, of being able to render a scene from multiple angles. In either case, Poser 6 offers multiple configurable cameras to facilitate your creative workflow. Poser includes a variety of independent cameras for viewing your scene, and a four-pane camera view. All are easily controlled with an innovative Trackball control for intuitive scene setup.
  • Realistic Lighting
Lighting is an essential component of any 3D image. Lights add colors, cast shadows, create specific effects, and set the tone for your scene. Poser 6's light controls allow you to add and individually configure different types of light sources in your Poser scene. When these light configuration options are combined with Poser 6's powerful rendering tools, the lighting possibilities are unlimited.
  • Bone Rigging
Create new, fully poseable Poser figures from any 3D object in a few easy steps. Import 3D geometry, break it into body parts and generate new Poser figures. You can even create Inverse Kinematics (IK) chains. Inverse Kinematics (IK) delivers natural character motion by modeling the hierarchical interactions of bones and joints, so that when you move a hand, the arm naturally follows.
  • OpenGL Preview
New OpenGL hardware acceleration offers improved performance with figure Posing and Preview renders. Easily switch between SreeD Software and OpenGL. Hardware rendering for scene previews means you can maximize your system's resources and spend your time creating rather than waiting.
